What exactly is a "dessert flavor," anyway?
Well, there are the fruit flavors which are relatively self-explanatory. Strawberry, lemon, raspberry, etc. Chocolate, peanutbutter, cookie dough - these constitute dessert flavors. And luckily for all of us, Chef David keeps both types of flavors constantly brewing and equally populated. You can take a look at the ever-growing flavor list and become overwhelmed by the number of trips to Weber's you'll have to schedule this year.

The History of Weber's
Don't you love when there's a story behind something?
Mr. Weber was born into a dairy family. Raised on the family dairy farm, he was instilled with the Weber family's dedication to quality, integrity and cleanliness. In fact, we're told, the family eventually founded "Quality Check'd," the benchmark for quality in the dairy industry. With these ethics so much a part of him, Mr. Weber left the farm in the late 1920's and set out on his own. He landed a job with the Soeder Dairy Company (headquartered on Payne Avenue in Cleveland) at their Euclid Beach Park concession producing and selling fresh ice cream.
Near summer's end Mr. Weber went to his employers and told them, "We can make flavors with these machines". They replied, "Kid, we can sell as much Vanilla as we can make, why would we want to go to all that trouble." After talking it over with his family, he went back to his employers and told them, "I want to make flavors." They told him that was alright as long as he went as far West as Euclid Beach was East.
In 1931 Mr. Weber, established his own business on Hilliard Ave. near Wooster Rd. in Rocky River, Ohio. He built a building and purchased a pair of the same machines as those used at Euclid Beach Park to produce Weber's Premium Custard. Producing that marvelous Vanilla, lines soon began to form. Mr. Weber's idea though was to "add flavors" to life, so he almost immediately began work on Chocolate. Less than one hundred yards West of the original store, was a "truck farm" and green house that supplied Mr. Weber with Strawberries. Over the next 2 seasons he added Banana and Lemon (which he would come in early to make). Still there was something missing. He had three fruit flavors but felt he needed a third "dessert" flavor. While visiting with a customer those fateful words were spoken, "I really like those Chocolate Malted milkshakes you make, why don't you make something like that to go on a cone". The idea for Frosted Malt had been expressed. Mr. Weber's customers hailed him as a creative genius. His flavors were so clean and pure. One customer went so far as to say that these "...are all the flavors anyone could ever want!" Oh well, I'm sure it seemed that way back in the 1930's. * As related by family friends and ex-employees.
Throughout his life, Mr. Weber maintained his business with that firm dedication to quality that is the hallmark of Weber's products, today. We produce the very same products that Mr. Weber made famous, and believe it or not, they are made using THE ORIGINAL machines Mr. Weber purchased in 1931. As one customer put it, "You can get junk on any street corner, there is only one Weber's."
If you want to taste what the quality of the 1930's was all about, if you want to experience "fresh ice cream" or if you simply want a taste of the best (not the thickest nor the richest - we prefer "clean and pure" to excess fat and additives), come to Weber's.
